Are you looking to train with great partners, top prospects from around the country and be pushed to your mental and physical limits? This is the camp for you!

This camp is geared toward individuals or teams that are looking for a blend of intense workouts and team competition. The goal of this camp is to combine the best concepts of our intensive training camp and our team competition camp. It is our hope that by doing this we will ensure that every camper is getting the opportunity to challenge themselves with BOTH intensive training concepts (i.e. lifting, running, drilling etc.) and live matches.

There will be a strong focus on teaching each wrestler how to excel at the next level through intensive workouts and team based competitions. Wrestlers will be placed on teams that will be led by current UVA Wrestlers. The day will be broken up with fast-paced technique sessions, strength and conditioning workouts and live matches. All practices will be run using the same format that the UVA wrestlers are trained in and thus wrestlers will learn how to effectively drill from all positions at the college level.

College-Style Camp

June 24 - June 28, 2012

$500 (Boarding)
$300 (Commuter)

Are you looking to train like a Division 1 wrestler? Do you want to come home with a "system"? This is the camp for you!

This camp is specifically designed for advanced wrestlers who want to train the same way as our college wrestlers. We are going to structure this camp the same way we would structure the training for our collegiate athletes. There willb e a STRONG emphasis on the following areas:

  1. The proper way to drill: We believe wrestlers foundation starts with correct drilling technique and therefore we will spend a considerable amount of time teaching our campers the right way to drill. Campers will learn how to drill like a Division I wrestler from the first day of camp. Most camps drill moves but the kids never actually learn the right way to drill. We feel that by first teaching them the proper way to go about drilling and teach why drilling is important, our campers will learn much more. Our goal is for them to take this system back to their high school room to be used for the coming season and execute multiple techniques learned during the highest levels of their competition.
  2. Hard live wrestling: Our campers will be going live with other competitors who are at a high skill level. We feel that the best way to get better in our sport is to compete hard in organized live goes. Our practices will be structured the same way our college practices are run. They will be intense, crisp, and hard!
  3. Learning high level techinique: Our campers will learn in a small group setting with personal attention from both our counselors and our coaching staff. Unlike most camps, we will focus our attention on helping the campers learn a system of moves as opposed to a bunch of “camp moves” thrown together over the course of the week. Our goal with our technique is to help our campers improve positioning from the most important and common situations in our sport.
  4. Elite cross training methods: Throughout the week, the campers will partake in several exercise and workouts that include various training techniques utilized by elite world level wrestlers and athletes. The goal of this camp is not to break down a camper and physically exhaust them. However, we do want to expose them and you as their coach, to new and innovative methods and exercises to help maximize performance throughout a long season.

Team Discount: Teams of 10 or more receive a $15 discount per camper.

Technique Camp

July 13 - July 15, 2012

$340 (Boarding)
$200 (Commuter)

Are you looking to improve your technique? This is the camp for you!

This camp will focus primarily on helping wrestlers develop their technical skills. We will start with the basic building blocks of the sport (stance, position, hand-fighting, etc.) early on in the camp but will progress quickly into more advanced technique (using legs on top, getting out of legs, scrambling, etc.) by the end of camp. The day will be broken down into three sessions as follows: 9am-11am: Morning session which will focus on learning and drilling. We'll not only spend time teaching the moves but will allow our campers to get multiple reps of the moves in so that they can start to develop muscle memory in the positions we are teaching. 2pm-4pm: Afternoon session in which we'll break the group down into smaller groups and work on a specific series for the entire two hours to ensure the best learning environment. We want our campers to leave here with a greater knowledge of the most important positions in our sport. 7-9pm: Night session which will focus on hard drilling and live wrestling. We want to allot time for some live wrestling each day so that our campers can try out the new skills they have learned. In this night session our campers can let it all go and have some fun competing against each other.

All camps are open to any and all participants and not limited by age, grade level, and/or gender.
