In our opinion, far too many camps promise things and then never deliver. We feel that most technique camps focus too much time on just "slow paced instruction" in large group settings. These settings can become boring and monotonous. We wanted to make our camp more exciting and more suitable to learning as much as possible about ALL the areas of the sport. This camp is specifically designed to cover the three major areas/skills necessary to become great wrestler:

1) Strength and Conditioning: Each morning session in our best of all worlds camp will consist of a 2 hour strength and conditioning session. At this session, campers will learn how to lift properly with the help of a professional strength coach. Campers will be able to make their strength gains through the use of our state of the art weight room facility. Campers will also learn many different and effective ways to improve their conditioning through sprint work, hill work and agilities training. All training will be supervised, and also joined in by our staff and counselors.

2) Technique :  Every afternoon a two hour session will be dedicated only to technique development. The campers will be split into groups, based on skill level (in order to assure each camper is learning technique suitable for his level of experience in the sport) and will receive hands on instruction from our staff in small group setting. Some of the areas covered during this session will be position drills and basic takedowns, advanced takedowns with set-ups, a variety of finishes, tilts and turns, cradles, leg riding, bottom basics, and bottom tricks.

3) Live Wrestling: Every night session will be dedicated to hard, fast paced drilling and live wrestling. This is the session where we will let it all hang out. Through the use of "college style" practices (with the help of our current stars) campers will learn the right way to drill and will improve their overall wrestling skills and mental toughness through wrestling live against other wrestlers, counselors and coaches. As in the technique session, campers will be matched with other campers of similar weight and age.
All children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

HEALTH CARE
All camp members must have health insurance. Campers will also be covered by a rider insurance policy. You will be asked for insurance information after completing and sending in your camp application. A qualified trainer will be on hand at all wrestling and technique sessions. Use of the University of Virginia’s training room will be available for all campers in case of injury. Coaches please call soon to reserve a spot for you team.
